An update of the possible Aphaenogaster:I found a way to get my iPhone 4 to take amazingly up-close pictures. Though, they are slightly grainy. Maybe, these images will help in the ID'ing.

Actually, she doesn't look much like A. tennesseensis - color too yellowish/orangey, not shiny, propodeal spines not long and thickened and curved back over the petiole, gaster proportionally too...

It reminds me of an Pogonomyrmex apache queen. I'm not 100% sure on this but that is what she looks like to me. I know they do cary their gasters like that. Slighty under themselve.
